Editing Your Websites Pages

Web Site Page List

The Page List is the main page of your Web Site editor. There are several actions you can take from this page:

Add New Page - Adds a new page to your page list.

  • Short Page Name - A quick reference name for the page. The name entered here is automatically added to the file name and title, which you can replace.
  • Page File Name - The name used for links to the page.
  • Page Title - The name the visitor sees in their browser when viewing the page. It is also used by search engines.
  • Copy From - The new page copies the appearence and content of the selected page.
  • Also Create a Menu Item for This New Page? - If set to Yes, automatically creates a button in your site's menu for the new page.
  • Menu Item Name - The text that appears on the button for the page. This option does not appear if you set the previous field to No.

Create Default Pages - Creates any of the following pages not in your page list: About Us, Contact Us, Feedback, Home, and Services.

Publish Web Site - Updates the live Web Site with any changes you have made since the last publish.

View Live Web Site - Opens your current live Web Site in a new browser window.

Edit Page - You can edit a page by either clicking on its Short Page Name, or by checking the box next to it and clicking Edit Page.

Preview Page - Opens the checked page to view how it will look on the live site.

Edit Properties - Change the names and meta information for the checked page.

  • Short Page Name - A quick reference name for the page. The name entered here is automatically added to the file name and title, which you can replace.
  • Page File Name - The name used for links to the page.
  • Page Title - The name the visitor sees in their browser when viewing the page. It is also used by search engines.
  • Page Keywords - Words that describe the content of the page. Used by older search engines, though actual content is more important for Google and its competitors.
  • Page Description - Sentences that describe the content of the page. Much like the keywords, its primary use is for older search engines.
  • Advanced Properties - This allows you to place HTML, Javascript, or CSS code in the Head of the page. This is for advanced users who want to add additional functions to their page.

Set as Home Page - Sets the checked page to be the home page of your website. The site must be published for this change to take effect.

Disable - Sets the checked pages to "Disabled" status, preventing them from appearing on the live site until the status is removed. The site must be published for this change to take effect.

Delete - Deletes the checked pages. The page(s) will still appear on the live site until
